Conditions and Process for ID Verification Stage

During the ID verification stage, the submitted image is checked to determine if it is a valid ID, whether it is issued by a recognized authority, and which country and type of ID it is. OCR AI then converts the information on the ID into digital text.

Valid ID

To pass identity verification, you must submit a 'valid ID.' The conditions for a valid ID are as follows:

  • The ID must display a photo, name, and date of birth (IDs showing only the birth year are rejected).
  • The ID must be printed in one of the following scripts: Alphabet, Korean (한글), Chinese (漢字), Japanese (日本語), or Cyrillic (Кириллица)
  • Handwritten IDs are not accepted.
  • The ID must not be expired.
  • Only government-issued IDs are accepted (employee or student IDs are not valid).
  • The ID must be legible (severely damaged IDs are rejected).
  • Physical IDs are required (mobile IDs are not accepted).
  • The photo on the ID must closely resemble the user's current appearance (IDs issued too long ago may be rejected).
  • Paper or coated paper IDs can be allowed based on user policy details.

Issuing Country and ID Type

To maximize the efficiency of OCR AI, the issuing country and type of ID must be accurately specified:

  • Issuing Country: The country that issued the ID (this is different from the user's nationality).
  • ID Type: Examples include passport, driver's license, or national ID.

For more details, refer to the Backside Collection Requirements page attachments.

Text Extraction

OCR AI requires the following conditions to extract identity information from an image:

  • The photo must be sufficiently clear.
  • There should be a small margin around the ID within the image.

If these conditions are not met, even a clear photo may not yield results from AI. In such cases, users can manually input their information to proceed. For more information, check the Guide to Taking a Good ID Photo.

Backside Collection

Some IDs may require the submission of a backside image, depending on the issuing country and type of ID. For detailed information, refer to the Backside Collection Requirements page.

Important: Even if a backside image is submitted, its storage is determined based on the specific type of ID as assessed by OCR AI.
